Spotify will launch its free streaming service for mobile devices (phones and tablets) today. Until now, streaming from mobile apps was only possible with a premium account.
With the expansion of Rdio, the impending arrival of Beats Music and not to mention iTunes Radio and Google Play Music, Spotify is living in an increasingly crowded marketplace. This new free service for mobile apps works just like the free account on desktop, punctuating your listening with advertisements.
Additionally, Spotify announced that Led Zeppelin’s discography will now be available on the service. The British 70s rock dinosaurs are one of the most requested groups to be included on Spotify, alongside The Beatles and AC/DC who are still not included.
